First clay experiment

This is my first dive into clay. Fellow artist Janet was teaching a clay class and we started off making square vases. My square did not turn out well so I decided to make a lovely face framed with flowers. 

I was trying to imitate a piece I think I saw in the Uffizi.  I had limited time otherwise I would have fully framed her face with many more rosettes.
